1. Who we are

Lovetere IT is the controller for the processing described here. This one statement covers the FoodScan apps for iOS and Android and the website foodscan.org.

2. What the apps process and why

• Barcodes you scan, to look up the product.
• Device model and platform, to keep the service stable and stop abuse.
• The device’s IP address, for abuse limits.
• Two label photos the first time a product is scanned, for ingredient and allergen analysis. Later scans use the stored result.

3. Processors

• OpenAI (the OpenAI API, model gpt-4.1-mini) analyses ingredient text and label photos.
• Lovetere Cloud stores the photos.
• Google Firebase App Check confirms that requests come from a genuine copy of the app.
• Google AdMob serves ads. Google’s consent form is shown where required, before any ad is requested. Ads are non-personalised unless you allow tracking. You can change this choice in Settings. No ads are shown to users who subscribe to Remove Ads. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
• Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) process the Remove Ads subscription payment. FoodScan only sees whether the subscription is active.

4. Retention

• Label photos are kept until the product is verified or for 30 days, whichever comes first.
• Device IP addresses are kept for 30 days.
• Scan histories are aggregated after 90 days.

5. The website

• The contact form sends your name, email and message to submit-form.com.
• Google reCAPTCHA loads only once you start using the contact form (a field gets focus) and sets a cookie.
• The fonts, styles and scripts of the site are served from foodscan.org itself.

submit-form.com and Google receive the visitor’s IP address when the form is used.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. To exercise them, write to info@lovetere.it. You also have the right to complain to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens: autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

7. Changes to this statement

We may update this statement to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or regulatory reasons. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
